Junior Tre Watson looks to reach a person record in the long jump.

The boys varsity track and field team traveled to Carthage College this past weekend for the Lake Michigan Invite to try and show the work they put in so far during this season. Many people on the team ended up placing and boosting the team’s total points.

Senior Chase Becker took first place in shot put, while senior Mathew Becker took second. The 4×400 meter team ended in third place while the 4×200 meter took seventh. Junior Treshawn Watson took fifth in the 55-meter hurdles and our all-star distance runner took second in the mile.

“I’m very proud of our team as a whole even though we did not get first,” Watson said. “We really pushed ourselves and it paid off.”

The team hopes to continue this progress in practice to become prepared for their next track meet on April 2 at Grant Communication High School.
