Boys Varsity Basketball Home Opener

The varsity boys basketball team had their first home game this past Saturday, December 9 against Grayslake Central High School. However, the Sequoits ended with an unpredictable loss to the Rams.

The first quarter began and the boys had a tough start, committing eight fouls and ending with a score of 19-9 in favor of the Rams. The Sequoits came back in the second quarter by closing the gap and showing great defense with two back to back blocks, ending with a score of 36-30, Central.

The third quarter brought a series of challenges to the boys’ offense, adding only nine points to Antioch’s score. Memorable appearances from Antioch includes senior guard Andrew Hare with ten points and senior forward Branden Gallimore with seven points.

“Both teams put up a good fight and we fought hard but we came up short,” junior point guard Michael Balagot said. “It was a fun game to be apart of.” 

The Antioch Sequoits fell to the Grayslake Central Rams in the fourth quarter with a final score of 46-62.
