The boys Varsity soccer team played the Grayslake North Knights Tuesday, October 18, which was a game to make or break their season, the boys went into the game with a record of 7-13-2. With this being the regional semi-final game, the Sequoits needed a win for their season to continue. The boys stepped onto the field more ready than ever, in hopes of getting one game closer to the regional title.

The Knights scored with six minutes left in the first half, then the Sequoits answered two minutes later with a goal, and tied up the score 1-1. In the last couple minutes of the first half, the Knights managed to score one more goal right before the first half ended, making the score 2-1.

The second half started, and the Sequoits were ready to play their hearts out. They managed to hold the Knights off until almost the very end, however, with six minutes left in the game, the Knights were awarded a penalty kick due to a hand ball by Antioch. Grayslake scored the penalty kick, making the score 3-1. This left the Sequoits down two goals, and with only a few minutes left, the Sequoits couldn’t manage to find the back of the net.

Many of the boys that are on the soccer team were hoping for a better outcome of this season. They are all very sad that the season had to be cut short. The Sequoits may not have had the season that they wanted, but for the ones that are coming back next year, they wait to bring the regional title back home and make it a worthwhile season.
