Lily Highley is a junior at Antioch Community High School. Highley is a three sport athlete; she participates in track, cross country and basketball. She is a familiar face around town because she works at Lovin’ Oven Bakery in downtown Antioch every Saturday and occasionally Sundays.

When working at Lovin’ Oven Bakery, Highley’s duties consist of filling their customer’s orders, replenishing the dessert trays and cleaning everything up at the end of the day. Being able to work with people and work for great owners, according to Highley, is the most rewarding part of the job.

“I get a customer I already know everyday, and even multiple times a day,” Highley said.

Conveniently located on lake street, the bakery draws in locals from all over Antioch and sometimes, even Wisconsin residents will make the trip to get in on some of the many options of desserts Lovin’ Oven Bakery has to offer.

“Even though the cakes are kind of pricey, the people come to us because they know the cake will be delicious and pretty.” Highley said.

While the cakes are one of the most popular items on the menu, Highley says her favorite pastry to get are the muffins. She raves about how the muffins aren’t too dry and aren’t too moist.

On Saturdays (and occasionally Sundays), Lily Highley is the brightly smiling, young worker at Lovin’ Oven Bakery ready to take your order.
