FAMOUS FRIDAY: Measuring More than Height

Being tall can be a great thing. You can see over people at the movies, get cereal from the top shelf and block as many shots as you want. But height isn’t the only thing you can measure; you can measure heart.

Measuring at 6’1″, senior Carly McCameron has more than just height. She has heart. A very big heart, full of the small things, makes McCameron special. She always has positivity, leadership and generosity.

McCameron is very involved at ACHS. She plays field hockey, basketball, and runs track. On top of her sports, she is involved in a few clubs such as Snowball, International Club, National Honor Society and the Cardinal Crazies. McCameron is seen as a leader because of all she does so well. She is a captain of the basketball team and one of the Cardinal Crazies leaders. Also, she is on the board for National Honor Society.

“I usually try to stay positive and encourage my teammates and work as hard as I can all of the time,” said McCameron.

McCameron is a naturally positive person. When she gets frustrated she rubs it off and puts a smile on again. Her contagious positivity touches many Sequoits and influences many to do great things.

“Growing up in Antioch was cool because I lived here my whole life and everybody’s really local,” said McCameron. “My parents have always been really supportive and I’ve been playing basketball so I’ve had good coaches and they really have shaped me to who I am now. ”

The person McCameron has become is one that many have not. Being involved in a lot, being smart and being a great friend is a hard thing to do. McCameron does it well.

Three of her friends, Bridget Dvorak, Kaitlyn Koski and Kaleigh Miller all had great things to say. In an interview conducted by Sequoit Broadcast Network reporter Vanessa Solis, each had many fond memories of McCameron.

Being tall sure has its advantages, but it is the small things that matter. To McCameron, the small things are being positive and a great friend day in and day out. These are what make McCameron more than just tall. These are what make McCameron herself. These are what make McCameron a true Sequoit.
