Girls Basketball Wins Season Opener

The Sequoits are off to a 1-0 start to the season. Sophomore Ashley Reiser passes the ball to junior Alexis Duehr.

The Antioch Community High School girls varsity basketball team is off to a great start to their season. On Tuesday, Nov.18, the Sequoits defeated Richmond-Burton in their season opener with a score of 59-31.

Sophomore Ashley Reiser led the way with 17 points, including two three-point field goals and three free throws.

Sophomore Amy Reiser also scored 11 points, while junior Kelly Johnson added eight. However, Reiser  did more than just chip in with scoring. She played an all-around great game consisting of six rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Senior Carly McCameron led the the team in rebounding, grabbing 10 of her own. Sophomore Erika Gallimore contributed eight rebounds as well.

Overall, the Sequoits overcame a rough start in their season opener as they only scored eight points in the first quarter. The Sequoits pulled it together and played a very successful second half.
