The girls track team placed second overall in the meet with 13 personal records. The team worked very hard for Fridays meet at Grant Community High School, and it payed off. School records were broken and a few girls ran state qualifying times. It was one of the team’s better meets of both the outdoor and indoor season so far. Junior Rachael Filipek was impressed with her and her teams accomplishments.

“We all prepared intensely, we treated this meet like it was the last meet of the season,” said Filipek.

Some other bright spots on the team was the 4×4 which consists of juniors Natalie Svarc, Ayanna Tommy, Briana Galan and senior Noor Abdellatif. Svarc and her teammates took the meet by storm with her relay team and had a time that would be the second fastest in the history of the Sequoits track team.

“We didn’t know what time we ran but as soon as we heard that we were close to breaking the time we went crazy.” said Svarc

All the girls went crazy knowing that they had a phenomenal meet and that they will continue to do great things on the track. Coaches and runners were all excited to know that they did amazing in their first couple meets. They will continue to dominate their competition and hopefully send a lot of athletes down to the IHSA State Competition.
