Since sixth grade, senior Tyler Miller has been running cross country and track. Every year he has continued to run and is heading into his last season of his high school career. He has been running on varsity for all four years of high school and is looking forward to dominating the track in his final year. Miller has high hopes for himself; he is looking forward to beating personal records and accomplishing a great success.

“One of my personal goals is to break 2:10.00 seconds in the 800 meter and break 53.00 seconds in the 400 meter as well as qualify for the state meet,” Miller said.

Miller has been named a captain for this year’s track season and is looking forward to being a leader. He has worked very hard to earn this spot and it easily shows to others on his team. Cole Loiacano has been Miller’s track teammate for all four years of high school and speaks very highly of him.

“Tyler Miller is such an important part to the team because he is very kind to everyone, he is very nice and very good at running in circles which makes him an integral part to the team, ” Loiacano said.

With Miller’s hard work, new position and dedication he has gained a large amount of confidence to compete in this year’s track season. Last season Miller ran a 2:12.00 seconds in the 800 meter and a 54.00 seconds in the 400 meter. This season he is hoping to crush those times and shave off a few seconds. A few seconds may not sound like much, but when it comes down to running, one second could be the difference between first and last place. Miller’s relay partner Tyler Wolfe is looking forward to watching Miller compete and achieve new heights in his running.

“Tyler works very hard at practice and you can see that with his consistency during races,” Wolfe said.

Miller is a student, an athlete and a scholar. He is a stellar student earning a cumulative grade point average of 4.500. He sets aside time to focus on academics and then sets aside time to focus on his athletics. Being a student-athlete takes a lot out of one’s mental health but Miller is able to set priorities and never fall behind. You can catch Miller running in any of this year’s track meets where he will dominate the competition.
