When preparing for a game, an athlete usually has the same ritual every time so that is nothing is left unexpected. Every basketball player gets prepared for a game differently; but when it is just minutes before the game the nerves really start to set in, and they get pregame jitters.

“When preparing for a game [the team and I] usually start with getting our bodies warm, and then we start shooting a little, and passing a couple of times helps a lot,” junior basketball player Amy Vazquez said.

When starting to go through the warm up processes before the game, the nerves start to set in but it’s mostly an excited nervousness. Even if someone has been playing basketball for years they still get nervous, like it’s one of their very first basketball games ever.

Before any basketball game there is usually practice every day of that week. During the game is the time where you can show off what you have been practicing during the week, whether it be an unique dribbling move or a dunk.
