Proxima B is the first planet found to have a possible identical atmosphere to Earth. Its size is slightly bigger, but scientists have hope that it has the right temperature and liquid water to sustain life.

Many people are excited about this new discovery.

“It is cool that Proxima B is so close to Earth and has the possibility to be Earth-like,” senior Madison Zoot said.

No one has actually seen the planet or confirmed that it can sustain life. It is 4.6 million miles from its red dwarf star, so it would take about eight years to get there. We do not know when we’ll know for sure how Earth-like Proxima B really is, but many have hope, like senior Kaylee Apostol.

“Hopefully scientists are right about the atmosphere and we find out soon,” Apostol said.

So far, Proxima B looks promising and many have hopes that it won’t let them down.
