The varsity boys basketball team suffered a tough loss to the North Chicago Warhawks on Tuesday, February 2, 2016. Despite the hard work and dedication shown by the Sequoits, the boys were not able to overcome the strong Warhawk offense and ended with a final score of 72-55, falling to the Warhawks.

The Sequoits worked hard to stay in the game, but the inability to make their shots and the quick Warhawk offense proved to be the Sequoits’ downfall. The seemingly easy steals and layups made by the Warhawks certainly toyed with the Sequoit morale, but in the end the team worked to every whistle and made the best of their game.

“Going down 13-0 early made it a tough game for us, but I believe we had some moments that we played really well,” said junior Reece Eldridge. “We just have to work on our mental game and not let those runs get in our heads.”

Aside from the final score, the boys used the difficult game to work on their defense and give the future talent more court time, specifically junior Michael Kawell and freshman Dan Fillipone.

“I thought we played great at certain times, and going forward we just need to find that consistent play and great things will happen for us,” Kawell said.

The Sequoits return to practice this week in preparation for their crosstown rivalry game against the Lakes Eagles Friday, February 12, 2016.
