Whether one wants to earn a little spending money, save for college, buy a car, or help bring income for their family, many high school students have jobs. Some of these students have more rare jobs. However, the majority of these people all work at similar places.

Most jobs for high school students in Antioch are in the food business. Popular restaurants students work at include Culver’s, Antioch Pizza, The Vegas Cafe, Lovin’ Oven, McDonald’s, Burger King, Taco Bell and more.

Sophomore Nayla Loos has worked at Antioch Pizza for eight months in order to pay for a school trip to Spain. She works alongside many Antioch Community High School students, past and present.

All of them except for two of them are high school age and work as counter girls,” Loos said. “All either go to ACHS or have gone there; including the pizza guys and the sandwich guys, almost all of them have gone to ACHS but they have graduated.”

Teenagers in Antioch can also work other jobs as well, such as lifeguarding at the Antioch Pool, camp counseling, Wilmot Mountain and Walmart, some of which are seasonal jobs. Seasonal jobs can be beneficial, especially if they’re in the summer, because employees can base their hours off of when they are in school or not. Therefore, they will have less stress, which any student can benefit from.

Various types of jobs can serve various purposes for different employees. The experience students are receiving from jobs at this age will benefit them in later years, no matter the work they are currently doing.
