Antioch Community High School is welcoming a brand new club to its long list of possible extra curricular activities: Asian Club. Advised my math teacher Arnold Glapajone, Asian club infuses education of the Asian culture with a fun time with food, games and new friends.

Co-president, junior Jasmine DeLara is excited to be a part of this new club as she has an Asian background herself.

“Asian club is very similar to Spanish and German club. We learn about Asian cultures, eat food, and go on field trips, all in a safe, fun environment, where students make new friends at every meeting,” DeLara said. “In the future, after I leave ACHS I hope someone picks up the club and continues to educate the student body on Asian culture, but one can only hope.”

With a spark of interest, Asian club is still looking for new members to join. Compared to Spanish and German Club, its numbers are low, but, with due time, DeLara thinks many more people will join.

Led by co-presidents DeLara and junior Kaleigh Miller, Asian Club is always looking for new faces. Find out what Asian Club is all about next week, after school. Meeting new friends with a twist of Asian Culture is a new way to get involved.
