After coming off a tough loss to Wauconda last week and losing their chances of being in the playoffs, Antioch had motivation to end their season on a high note.

“Our guys worked hard all week,” said sophomore and starting quarterback, Branden Gallimore. “We knew it could be our last game, so we put everything we had into it.”

Throughout the season, the Sequoits have struggled with their passing game. This changed Friday night, with the offense putting up over 130 yards passing and over 400 total offense yards. Ian Flately, Kenny Grenke and Nick Andre played a phenomenal receiving game this week, Andre scoring one of his two touchdowns off a reception.

Andre felt the team upped their offensive game this week compared to the rest of the season.

“Right now, it’s do or die,” said Andre. “We all knew that if we didn’t win this game, we had no chance for playoffs.”

Unfortunately, the Sequoits will not be advancing to the playoffs.

Friday night was an emotional night for many players, especially the seniors. For many of them, this was their last chance to lace up their cleats and play under the lights. The impact the senior class had on the team was tremendous. A final win was an honorable way to thank the seniors for their dedication and hard work this season.
