In a game that came down to a shot in the closing seconds, the Antioch boy’s basketball team ended up losing, 76-72 to the North Chicago Warhawks. Junior Jaden DeVaugn thought that the Sequoits came out a bit flat, the Warhawks were getting off more shots and getting more rebounds overall than the Sequoits.

“I think we could have pulled off the win if we came out in the beginning thinking we could have won,” DeVaugn said. “We started out timid and not ready to play yet.”

At halftime, head varsity coach Jim White got the team pumped up for the second half. Going into the second half  the boys were down by 11 points. Late in the 3rd quarter Antioch started to have a comeback, eventually, the Sequoits had a chance to potentially take the lead in the final seconds but missed a three point shot that went off the rim.

Sophomore Daniel Filippone lead the team with 30 points, followed by senior, Ben Gutke with 12 points along with eight rebounds.

“From the beginning of the game we should come out hard,” DaVaughn said. “If we do that we could compete with most teams in our conference.”
