New Face in the Nurse’s Office

After an extensive time tackling emergency rooms, the new nurse is ready for Antioch Community High.

As the new school year has turned around the corner, a set of fresh faces start to appear at the school—one of those faces include new school nurse, Lisa McKavis.

McKavis grew up in the south side of Chicago, but currently resides in Lake Villa with her husband and twin daughters who are currently freshmen at Antioch Community High School.

Before coming to Antioch, McKavis was a contract employee this previous year in her current town of Lake Villa. She graduated from the nursing program at the College of Lake County, but has returned to further her studies.

She has come from a wide background of nursing between three years of cardiac nursing and ten years in the emergency room.

“I have lots of fun and crazy stories from the emergency room.” McKavis said. “Let’s just say that when they say watch out for the full moon—it’s true.”

With her substantial experience in the medical field, she is prepared and looking forward to see what this school year brings.
