On Thursday, December 5, the boys varsity basketball team competed against the Westosha Central Falcons at home for their home opener. The team won the game in overtime and the score was 48-47 in favor of the Sequoits. The team didn’t play their best game, but they played well enough to beat a strong Westosha Central team.

“We didn’t play our best game, but it’s early in the season so we have time to clean it up” senior Gavin Eldridge said.

Although the team didn’t play their best, they still had multiple good plays during the game. Junior Kobe Kriese had 19 points and Eldridge had 12 points that night. With a new coach and multiple freshmen on the team, people were curious about the way the team was going to perform this season.

“I think if we buy into what Coach Bowen is doing we will be a really good team in Lake County,” Kriese said. “Tonight’s game was a good team win and we will build off of this the rest of the season.”

Since the team got a new coach, the style of play is very different in years past, so people were interested in how the team would react to the new changes. Although the team is adjusting to new plays, they are adapting well to the style of coaching. The team is excited for their upcoming games and are looking to finish in conference.
