Birds are one of the main contributors to the Bird Flu sickness that is taking hold of dozens in China.

China has had a minor outbreak of Avian Influenza, commonly known as Bird Flu, and is advising people traveling to the country to stay away from any kind of poultry market.

There has been 120 confirmed cases in China so far.  Some symptoms of Avian Influenza are similar to those of the common cold. According to Health Line, the symptoms include coughing, sore throat, malaise, runny nose and fever.

“It’s scary that there is a outbreak of bird flu in China, but it is very small and easy to contain” senior Mike Maloney said.  “From what I know of the bird flu, it isn’t that contagious from person to person.”

One of the biggest concerns of the small epidemic is not how rapidly the number of cases are growing, but how severe the cases have been. According to World Health Organization (WHO), infections in both animals and people have been observed.

“Not only can you become infected by interactions from just birds, but other animals who are infected, and for me, that’s the scariest part of bird flu.” senior Brandon Lind said.
