After a great weekend coming in second at the Gateway Classic Tournament in St. Louis, the Antioch Community High School Varsity field hockey team played their well-known rival Lakes Community High School on Tuesday, Sept. 2. The girls stormed onto the field by scoring the first goal of the game, made by senior Carly McCameron. The Sequoits controlled the rest of the first half, until the last five minutes when LCHS scored a goal, making the score 1 to 1.

After halftime and a motivational speech from coach Terry Dewing, the girls took their positions. Shortly after the intermission, Junior Morgan Gibson scored the tie breaking goal to put the Sequoits on top  2 to 1. After the goal, the Sequoits controlled the rest of the game and received their second win of their regular season. Their next game is home against Oak Park River Forest on Thursday, Sept. 4.
