The Antioch girl’s basketball team played the Zion-Benton Zee-Bees Wednesday, January 4. The girls started strong getting up to a 7-0 lead and did not look back. Multiple connections between senior twins Amy Reiser and Ashley Reiser along with a steal by Megan Kelly that lead to a lay up helped the Sequoits end the half with a score of 34-21. With Sequoits scoring all around and strong defensive efforts by juniors Taylor Horner and Julia Murillo, the Sequoits finished the game winning with a score of 70-49.

“I think my team played really well last night,” Murillo said. “We played together had really good defensive and offensive sides, so it just worked out in the end.”

Murillo said that the key to her team’s success is their communication. They are all friends off the court, and it shows on the court.

“It was team effort,” Murillo said. “We always have that one player that stands out, but in the end it was a team effort.”

This win was a big boost for the team, and Murillo believes they will keep the momentum moving forward in the season.

The girls next game is against Lakes Community High School, Friday, January 6.
