Movie Review: Hush

Hush, directed by Mike Flanagan, was released on Mar. 12, 2016, and does not deserve the 94 percent rating it received on Rotten Tomatoes.

This movie is about a deaf writer who left the hustle and bustle of the big city and now lives alone in a house in the woods. Like many horror movies, something drastic happens, she spends the rest of the movie fighting for her life. Hush‘s twist, however, is that the entire movie is spent in silence.

Although this movie had the suspense and violence many ratings promised, it had some major plot holes. For instance, the killer appears with no mention of who he is, what he wants, or how he just happened to wander into the middle of the woods with a crossbow. It is never said if the killer has any connections or ties to the author or her neighbors. The watcher has to many major questions. I would not recommend this movie to others, as it is not very climatic and lacks a strong story.
