As the trick-or-treating season approaches, the craze for the best candy is in full swing. Stores have stocked the shelves full of consumer’s all time favorites and classic candies for them to hand out to trick-or-treaters, or even keep as a treat for themselves. There are many different varieties of candies throughout the world coming in all shapes, sizes and flavors, making it almost impossible to pinpoint the best ones. However even with the endless options, only a few are truly worth the hype.

According to a poll taken on the sequoit media instagram, 47% of voters chose Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups as their favorite Halloween candy. With Twix getting 25% of votes, KitKats with 24% and candy corn with only 5%, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups is the highest ranked favorite candy from the poll.

“My favorite is the Reese’s pumpkins because they are just so smooth and delicious and I feel like they have more peanut butter,” junior Olivia Marcell said.

According to a poll taken by Monmouth University, 36% of Americans’ favorite Halloween candy is Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. This percentage is significantly higher than the percentages of the other candies and it even doubles the second highest ranked, Snickers, percentage of 18%. While Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups were the most popular favorite from the poll, candy corn was at the very bottom.

“[Candy corn] is too sugary and sweet and kind of has a waxy texture,” sophomore Nathan Yeager said.

Although candy corn can be popular throughout the Halloween season, with the overwhelmingly sweet taste and strange waxy texture to some, it ranks lower for most consumers. This leaves Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups the overall favorite candy.

Overall, it is safe to say that Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are definitely something to consider handing out to trick-or-treaters on Halloween night. Although, with it containing peanuts, make sure to incorporate an allergy friendly option as well. With the least favorite candy being candy corn, it might be best to leave it out of the mix.
